  • Being Separated from the World

What does it means to be separated from the world? After all, we are living in the world and are an active part of our communities. Yes, that is absolutely true. However, according to the Word of God, this world is not our permanent resting place. Heaven is the place God has made for his children. We are travelers passing through this land. Our ultimate duty is to lift up the name of Jesus. We are called to be witnesses; therefore, we must be different from those we are called to minister unto.

Being separated does not give us the right to prejudge, ignore, slander, or cast away those who are not like us. For many years, Christians have behaved themselves in such a snobbish manner. God cannot be glorified when we behave negatively toward others. Separation comes about when two or more people view things differently. Those differences cause them to walk down a different path. Yet, they still communicate and may even eat dinner together. Nevertheless, separation causes changes. Change is inevitable. It has to happen and it will happen. How can two walk together when there is no agreement? Eventually, the two parties will separate because there will definitely be conflicts in personality, beliefs, morals, likes, and dislikes.

As Christian, we do not do the things the world does. We do not party, dance, smoke, drink, curse/profanity, drugs, premarital sex, adultery, idolatry, and so on. Our bodies are the temple of the Holy Ghost/Spirit. We have to handle this temple with care and with respect. God does not want us to defile, wrinkle, or put spots on his temple. Let us walk circumspectly and according to the Word of God.
